Chicago Native, Lakeya Anderson has become known as Chef Luckey to many who have had her plates to hit their pallet. After high school, Lakeya enlisted into the United States Air Force, where she served 8 years. During her time there she worked as an air traffic controller and personnel manager with a rank of Staff Sergeant. While serving, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
On her quest to find a career that could turn her passion for cooking into a profitable business, she sought a way to make her signature lunches lucrative! "Luckey" vividly remembers spending hours watching various cooking shows, and trying different techniques for fun. For years, she's always enjoyed and been known for her knack of cooking and entertaining for friends and family. It wasn’t until 2009, after watching the movie, Julie and Julia, that she decided to pursue her passion and purpose in life. "Luckey" is a proud alumnus of Le Cordon Bleu of Chicago. It was the experience and exposure at Le Cordon Bleu that eventually landed her in Sorrento, Italy soon after graduation. It was in Italy where she was dubbed Luckey. Her work experience and travel throughout Europe gave her a greater appreciation for food, culture, and simplicity of ingredients. Chef Luckey was afforded the opportunity to work at il' Buco, the only Michelin star restaurant in Sorrento, under the renowned Chef Giuseppe Aversa., Luckey also worked at Mami Camilla's Bed and Breakfast making 4 course meals and fresh pasta daily.
Chef Lakeya "Luckey" Anderson has been a proud member of the American Personal & Private Chef Association since 2011. In November 2011, Chef Luckey started her own personal chef service business, Guilty Pleasures Personal Chef Service. Guilty Pleasures offers a wide range of services such as private/group cooking lessons, weekly meal planning, business luncheons, catering, romantic dinners, and more. Chef Luckey is also a sanitation instructor for the state of Illinois and Indiana.
Chef Luckey’s motto is that everyone can afford to eat healthier; they just need to be shown how. Her greatest joy is to see the pleasure that someone receives after eating one of her delectable meals.
Chef Luckey’s most recent main course is Luckey’s Cafe, a brick and mortar restaurant in Little Italy that captures the essence of her world travels and delectable bites spanning 4 continents! The cafe made its debut 4 April 2020, in the midst of a viral pandemic. Luckey followed her current vision of healthy eating with military service and world travels, with love of food-food can take you around the world and everyone has to eat type theme. Julie and Julia movie was in a dead end career and decided to Blog about Food and cooking to follow her passion. It was just something she wanted to do!
Earned the name Luckey from the Bed and Breakfast owner's daughter, Odelia because she said I had a luckey vibe. she saw the four leaf clover as a means of hitting the jackpot if only she trusted her instinct to follow her passion.
