Our Line Cook prepares food using menu items and recipes created by Chef Lizzy and helps keep the kitchen running smoothly. This candidate is dedicated to quality, has strong time management skills, and an eye for detail. The ability to multitask while maintaining a clean and workstation is essential. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of food processing and safety guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Assist with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations
Preparing food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers, and snacks
Follow Chef Lizzy’s direction as it pertains to food preparation and plating
Work with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time
Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts
Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations
Completing all tasks, in order, on the prep list from Chef Lizzy or another kitchen manager
Label and stock all ingredients on easily accessible shelves
Wash, chop, and sort all ingredients (i.e. fruits, vegetables, and meats)
Measure quantities of seasonings and other cooking ingredients
Handle first steps in various dishes (i.e. parboiling food, reducing sauces, etc.)
Trash removal and kitchen sanitation
Adhere to all relevant nutrition and sanitary directives
Keep track of ingredient inventory and collaborate with other kitchen and management staff to order resupply

Growing up as a little girl in Philadelphia, I watched the women in my life prepare meals as simple as Sunday morning breakfast of pancakes, eggs and grits to our holiday feast with staples like candied yams and macaroni and cheese. No matter what dish, love was the main ingredient. And, we always had plenty of it to add to whatever we made. My family created numerous memories over a plate of delicious, well prepared food.
For more than 25 years, I worked as an event planner and tasted the finest of every cuisine. My travels have taken me to complete classes with Food Network star, Tyler Florence and cooking with executive chefs in the industry. I have been trained at the hip of my grandmother and godmother.
My professional experience has expanded my personal palette and my creativity. Since moving to Illinois, I have completed the required licensure and insurances required from the state.
My love of food and creating special moments is my motivation for launching Lizzy J. Named after five generations of first born woman with the middle name of Elizabeth, I am the fourth generation Elizabeth.
